In “Vampire Rhapsody,” the starring couple take a work/play vacation and encounter a pair of vampires who entice them into a game that tests the love of both couples. In “Fresh Blood,” the starring couple are invited back to Colorado to the premier of an opera and party hosted by their new, rich vampire friends. More surprises, twists, and turns provide plenty of action, and again love’s eternal power is put to a test, this time involving life and death. Gibbs came to YourNovel.com through the company’s romance-writing contest in 2002 to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Ten winning short stories — including her “Passion Among the Stars,” a romantic story set in outer space — was published in the anthology “Celebrating Romance,” still available on the company website, www.yournovel.com.
Gibbs says, “After I was selected to be published in ‘Celebrating Romance,’ I gained the confidence to submit my efforts to the marketplace and have had other encouraging successes. I had a great time writing ‘Passion Among the Stars,’ so I was excited to get an opportunity to work on this longer eBook for YourNovel.com. Then when they asked for a second installment of the story, I was thrilled. Writing is now my full-time passion with the goal of developing it into a full-time career.”
Gibbs also has published short stories in Church Educator and AlienSkin online magazine, and short pieces in Natural Health and True Confessions. The first chapters of her unpublished science fiction novel placed second in the sci-fi/fantasy category of the 2007 SouthWest Writers Annual Contest. She is a member of Arizona Mystery Writers, the Tucson Saguaro Romance Writers, and the Society of Southwestern Authors, and won a commendation in their 2009 Writing Contest, including publication of her short story in The Story Teller. She also will have a story in the eBook version of the upcoming science fiction anthology Cheer Up, Universe.
After 25 years living in Silver City, NM, she and her husband of 28 years, Ron, moved just north of Tucson to Oro Valley, AZ, last year.
She met her own real-life sweetheart while working in the ore analysis lab of New Cornelia Mine at Ajo, AZ.
They have one daughter, Emily, who lives in Wisconsin with her husband, Jay David.
Gail Gibbs received a chemistry degree from the University of Arizona in 1978, and a business degree from Western New Mexico University in 1999. She’s worked a variety of jobs from mining labs to town clerk to non-profit accounting, and has written for her own enjoyment through it all.
