Here is her response to our question: What did you learn from your mother about romance?
“I must say that my mother taught me the most important thing there is to know about romance. She taught me to believe in the power of love and no matter how far away or close two people are physically they are never apart where it counts, their hearts.
“My father was in the marine corps so he was away a lot. They literally wrote each other every day and always closed the letters with ‘I love you. I can’t see you, touch you, or feel your heartbeat against mine, but I’ll see you in my dreams while I sleep and always feel your heartbeat in mine always.’
“I never knew two people who loved each other more until I met my husband. Now I understand how it feels. If it wasn’t for my mother reading me their letters and knowing how romance should feel, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.”
Out of all our entries, Tinia’s was the most thorough and touching.
