Meet one of the authors of “Celebrating Romance 2”: Emily Dommershausen

It’s our pleasure to introduce another of our contest winners, Emily Dommershausen, whose work is featured in our 2012 release, Celebrating Romance 2, the book that celebrates our 20th anniversary, now available on our website.

Turns out Emily’s mom also writes for us: Gail Gibbs, creator of several vampire ebooks available on on our site. We’re so happy they’re keeping it all in the family.

Emily was born in Ajo, AZ, grew up in Silver City, NM, and currently lives in Bedford, MA, with her husband. She attended Arizona State University and Mesa Community College (MCC) and holds an Associate Degree in Interior Design, along with an advanced certificate in Interior Design both from MCC. She is currently taking classes in pottery and other fine arts. She has worked in multiple Interior Design and Architecture studios as a Design Assistant in both the commercial and residential fields.

She says she entered the YourNovel.com writing contest because her mother dared her to enter with an unconventional story. “Looking at the previous stories, I thought it would be a wonderful challenge to create an original story that would be customized for anyone.” Both her mother and husband were  “encouraging and kept me going through the writing process.”

Emily’s story, “Infectious Love,” is “a story following a couple as they wake up to a town filled with residents who have a hunger for the couples’ lives. Set in an idyllic small town peninsula perfect for romance, the couple find themselves fighting to escape without losing the love that brought them together.”

The most challenging part of writing the story, she says, was “adding the custom facts so they became part of the story” but that it was “also the most fun part of the process.” She loved writing in high school, but “never took the time to create something complete until now.”
